Sheila got a heck of a deal for the 4th: the park superintendent at Valley Falls State Park is going to let us use a pavilion there on the 4th from 9am-noon for free! Everyone can bring a covered dish for breakfast/brunch and throw in $1.00 each for paper plates, plastic ware, cups and juice. The park superintendent will give a talk about the history of the park, the river, etc. Then we can enjoy the falls and/or take a hike. There are multiple trails there and beautiful photo opts of the river.
If you have never been there, you are in for a treat. It is about 28-30 miles from the Star City exit of I-79. Takes about 40-45 minutes from there. Brochures are attached.
LocationFrom I-79, take Exit 137, then 310 south for 7 miles. Turn right at the Valley Falls State Park sign. Go two miles to the park entrance.
