From Greg Waggett, Social Director of the Monongahela Chapter:
More information about the class and potluck will be sent out the first week of November, but we wanted everyone to be aware of this class event for planning purposes. Please be aware the information provided here is only roughly what I know at this time. Actual times may change, and fees may apply (topo maps, etc) depending on available resources.
Sheldon Owen and Ray Frear will be teaching a two-hour class on orienteering, followed by a potluck social, then an approximately two hour, practical application session of what we learned in the classroom. Sheldon and Ray will need a fairly accurate headcount for necessary maps, compasses, etc., so be thinking about whether you'll be attending and be prepared to respond when we send out the final info on or about November 4th. Class will probably start at 9am; lunch at 11am; orienteering starting at noon.
The location of the Orienteering class is at the Westvaco Natural Resource Center in the WVU forest. There are facilities for the potluck with access to electricity for cooking appliances. We didn't use any kind of signup sheet for our last potluck and it was highly successful, so we'll probably not do one for this event either. Some vegetarian dishes would likely be appreciated by some of our group.
Hope to see you there!
