Tygart Valley Master Naturalist Chapter News
Hello to all,
Some chapter news:
There will be a public informational meeting August 20 starting at 7:00 PM at the DNR Op's center on Ward Road. Our goal is to provide information and answer questions about the Master Naturalist program and hopefully obtain applications from students for the coming new session. Also, and this is very exciting, Dr. Jim Van Gundy will give a presentation about his recent trip to Tanzania, East Africa with some very wonderful pictures that were taken during that trip. This is a must see.....So try and get the word out to your friends that have expressed an interest in the Master Naturalist program and ask for them to join us next Wednesday evening. Refreshments will be available.
We are in the final phase of getting a schedule put together for the coming session and we should have it available for the public meeting. First classes will be held Saturday August 23. Subjects
will be Aquatic Habitats followed by Geology.
Our own Sam Muncy was elected to the West Virginia State Master Naturalist Advisory Committee, as a member at large during the business meeting portion of our annual conference. Congratulations Sam, I know that your input to the committee will be very valuable.
Congratulations also go out to Pam Byrne and Anne Wakeford for completing the program requirements and are now certified West Virginia Master Naturalist. I know that several others of our group are very close to completing the program and I look forward to their graduation.
Will close for now and hope to see you next Wednesday evening. Till then
Be well and stay safe,
