WVBG Plant Walks

WV Botanic Garden  All activities take place at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, 1061 Tyrone rd., Morgantown
 Walks and presentations will last 1.5-2hrs and are free of charge, but donations are appreciated and can be made at the Welcome Center any time.
 Please refrain from bringing your pet to activities.
***June 4, 10:00 a.m. Beginner's Guide to Plant Identification: On this walk with Research Botanist Cindy Huebner, participants will be introduced to the basics of plant identification and learn to identify several plant species with a focus on trees and shrubs. Most appropriate for adults and older children.
***June 5, 2:00 p.m. Forest Understory Plants and their Associated Canopy Species: Research Botanist Cindy Huebner will lead a walk focusing on the identification of herbaceous plants and tree seedlings located in forest understories. We will also cover diversity and plant composition patterns found in particular forest types. Most appropriate for adults.

Preston County Paddling Parties

Preston County paddling parties set for June
Friends of the Cheat (FOC) and the Upper Cheat River Water Trail Committee will host two "Meet the Cheat" float trips in the Cheat River.
***Saturday June 4
Pending water levels, the group will put-on at the Riverview Lounge access point and float 3.2 miles to the Rowlesburg Town Park access point. Cost: $15 for a single kayak, $30 for a tandem kayak or canoe.
***Saturday June 11, will be the Upper Cheat River Water Trail Paddling Party.
Participants will float from Holly Meadows to St. George. Meet at Blackwater Outdoor Adventures at10 a.m. to conserve parking spaces and get a free shuttle to the put-in.Launch will be at 11 a.m. Cost: $15 for a single kayak, $30 for a tandem kayak or canoe.
