September Walks at the WV Botanic Garden

***Sunday September 11, 2:00 p.m. Fall Mushroom Walk: WVU Professor of Mycology Dan Panaccione will lead us in search of forest fungi. He will show us how to identify the native mushrooms at the garden by their unique characteristics. All ages.

***Saturday September 17, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Bird Day: Join us for a fall bird walk led by local birder John Boback, live bird presentation by the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia, and basic birding skills and winter bird identification by Mountaineer Audubon.  See www.wvbg.org for schedule of events. All ages.

***Sunday September 18, 2:00 p.m. Tree ID Walk: WVU Society of American Foresters club members will help us identify and teach us about some of the trees found at the WVBG. Bring a tree ID guide if you have one. All ages.

September 25, 2:00 p.m. Moss, Lichen, & Fern Walk: Join Susan Studlar, WVU visiting associate professor of biology, and discover many exciting species of mosses, lichens, and ferns. A whole new world will become apparent as you learn the fascinating biology behind these organisms. Bring a hand lens if you have one. All ages.
