Cooper's Rock State Forest Day Use Parking Lot
Jan 1, 2017, sleep late New Year's Day, then come out to Cooper's Rock State Forest for a First Day Hike.
Place: Day Use Parking lot, Cooper's Rock State Forest
Description: Out and back hike along the Roadside Trail to the Overlook for 6.5 miles, optional side trip around the reservoir. Afterwards, warm up around the Day Use Parking Lot fire ring and enjoy hot chocolate/tea/snack.
Hiking time: Approximately 3 hours.
Difficulty: Easy but could be moderate, depending on trail conditions.
Equipment: Besides the obvious of "dress for the weather", remember warm boots with good traction, traks or similar cleats may be helpful in ice and slick conditions, walking poles add more stability. Consider bringing a warm (non-alcoholic) drink for sharing around the fire ring. Sorry, no pets this outing.
Minors (under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian, or they must have both 1) a signed permission slip, and 2) the leader’s prior consent to participate .
Please preregister with leader: Ann Devine-King at email@example.com or 304-594-2636
